This 1.4 km long bridge at a record high of 625 meters on the North River is nine times higher than that of San Francisco (USA)’s famous Golden Gate Bridge, just 67 meters above the surface.
Previously, the world’s highest bridge title belonged to Banjan Bridge in Gitzhou Province, about 320 km north of Hoa Jang Bridge. At a height of 565 meters, Ban Giang Bridge has held this record since its completion in 2016.
The Do Valley, also known as “The Cracks of the Earth,” is one of China’s deepest and most majestic limestone valleys. The above bridge is the latest project to add the rapidly expanding infrastructure network of the world’s second largest economy.
For the past few years, Guizhou, one of China’s least developed states, has built over 30,000 bridges in rugged hills, including three works among the world’s tallest bridges. The state has nearly 50 of the tallest bridges in the world.
