Seen from the outside, the curved dome is very natural, but the fact is the result of a very intensive research process of architect Renzo Piano from biological simulation of the structure of bones, snail shells, bird skulls …, or studies on the veins of lilies floating on the water. This ultra -thin and curved roof design not only reminds the beauty of West Lake, creating an elegant shape for the project, but also creates a cool space to help naturally absorbing the wind, and the music shows are best filtered.

Before the idea of designing Hanoi Opera Theater, KTS Renzo Piano has used for many years to study the historical culture of Hanoi. He was fascinated by the beauty, the old cultural stories and the legend of the West Lake area, where the ancient national town of Tran Quoc, has a sacred West Lake, has a sweet lotus lake.
